Despite being a rather good game, The Adventures of Shuggy didn’t perform very well on Xbox Live Arcade. Like other independent developers before it, Smudged Cat Games is trying again with a follow-up release on PC by way of Steam. Look past the silly name and consider giving it a chance.
For as many platformers as I seem to play, I’m surprisingly not tired of the genre yet, though fatigue does occur regularly. Shuggy was able to mix things up with an old-school design and varied gameplay hooks. It feels quite a bit different than anything else out there, which I can appreciate.
No word on a release date for this impending Steam version other than “soon,” so hold tight.
