Infinity Ward’s downloadable version of the original Call of Duty, dubbed Call of Duty: Classic, is now available over Xbox LIVE and PlayStation Network. Do try to keep from wetting your pants in sweet, sweet anticipation: as of right now, it’s only available — via a token — to those who purchased the “Hardened” and “Prestige” editions of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.
But if you’re wondering how the id-tech powered downloadable performs and if it is indeed a faithful port, feel free to take a gander at the first ten minutes in the above, which like MW2, begins with a tutorial that teaches how to aim, throw grenades and not to stick your head up while someone is firing. It’s not exactly thrilling stuff, but I’m having a hard time remembering a tutorial that was mind-blowing.
Aside from the tutorial, there’s also a brief look at the game’s first and particularly atmospheric level. You’ll see me clock a dude in the back of his skull, then run around confused. I’m sorry about the latter part of that.
Activision has yet to reveal a date as to when the downloadable will be available for purchase over both networks.
