Takashi Miike’s new film based on DS ‘courtroom drama’

So, this is mighty strange. Japanese director Takashi Miike, famed for intensely violent films like Ichi the Killer and Audition, is going in a very different direction for his next film project. Speaking with The Huffington Post at Cannes, Miike said, “It is a very light comedy that I am filming now, a court drama, based on a video game, the Nintendo game DS.”

I don’t want to say that Takashi Miike is making a film based on the Ace Attorney series. Not that I can think of any other game on the DS set in a courtroom which is a light comedy or because I think Miike should not do such a thing. In fact, I’m sure such a film would be weird and wonderful. I just don’t want to jinx it or get my hopes up.
