Switch 15.0.0 firmware

The new Switch 15.0.0 firmware update is mostly for stability, but has a small feature

You can take screenshots in the Switch Online menu now

Nintendo has released a Switch 15.0.0 firmware update, and although it’s mostly stability related, like some updates in the past, a few small things have changed.

The most obvious alteration is the following: “Screenshots can be taken using the Capture Button while in the Nintendo Switch Online application found on the Nintendo Switch HOME Menu.” In short, this will now allow users to screencap the Switch Online menus: where you can view various My Nintendo challenges, bits of news, special offers, and expansion pack info.

One of the main bonuses of this change is the ability to easily take photos of the cycling array of Switch profile icons, which currently include Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Animal Crossing. At the moment you cannot take screenshots of several other menus in the Nintendo Switch OS, including the eShop.

The other even smaller change involves moving the Bluetooth audio menu (where you can connect various accessories, including headphones). It’s not very exciting for a firmware update, right?! Well, that’s par for the course.

Switch 15.0.0 firmware patch notes (Released October 10, 2022):

  • The location of the Bluetooth Audio menu within System Settings has moved.
  • Screenshots can be taken using the Capture Button while in the Nintendo Switch Online application
found on the Nintendo Switch HOME Menu. Video capture is not supported.
  • General system stability improvements to enhance the user’s experience
