While it’s no secret that Shigeru Miyamoto could even charm the pants off a moody teenager obsessed with cutting himself, it is kind of nice to hear someone have something positive to say in the midst of all these depressing reports about how poor the state of the economy is.

Speaking to Channel 4 today during a London Tour (full video here), Shig commented on his positive outlook for Wii Music and more:

“We need to eat in order to live – that’s our first priority,” Miyamoto said. “But entertainment and the enrichment of our souls must come in second place … Nintendo’s mission is to take advantage of improving cheaper technology to create reasonable and affordable entertainment. It’s very good value.”

In other words, there’s always room for games. I would tend to agree, but it helps when everything your company produces results in people hurling their money at you. I need to learn the secret to that. Maybe it has something to do with that adorable cardigan/rolled sleeve combo Shig is sporting.
