Stellaris is a record-breaker for Paradox Interactive

200,000 copies sold within a day of release

Paradox is off to a fantastic start with Stellaris. The grand strategy sci-fi game drew in 68,000 simultaneous players on its first day, surpassing Cities: Skylines, the company’s previous record-holder for most concurrent players at launch. Considering their respective genres, that’s wild.

“Less than 24 hours after release, Stellaris has sold over 200,000 units, breaking the revenue record for any of Paradox Interactive’s previous titles during the same time period. For the internal development studio, the game has broken every record available and is the studio’s fastest selling game ever.”

Having read over Patrick’s review, this does makes sense. He spoke about how Stellaris feels like the best of both worlds, with the immense depth you’d expect from a typical 4X game but also an extra layer of accessibility. “Paradox has done a wonderful job making such a complex game approachable.”

Those of you stuck in this timesink are going to remain there for a while to come. “We are listening very keenly to all the feedback we are getting and look forward to many years of continued expansions and improvements to the game,” said director Henrik Fåhraeus. “Let’s make space great again, together!”
