Stardew Valley 1.6 arrives first for PC in March, with consoles and mobile later

Stardew Valley 1.6 is arriving sooner than you might expect.

News of Stardew Valley’s 1.6 update has circulated since ConcernedApe revealed a major sneak peek in September and various mini-announcements, such as one in October and another 1.6 progress report in December. Today, ConcernedApe announced an official 1.6 release date, with this update releasing on March 19 on PC and later on console and mobile.

According to ConcernedApe’s initial announcement tweet, the PC release date for Stardew Valley 1.6 is March 19. He also highlights that console and mobile will “follow as soon as possible”. In short, while there are no official dates for other platforms, we know the update is coming, and it’s coming quickly.

Stardew Valley 1.6 primarily focuses on changes throughout both the early and end-game, including new festivals, late-game content that covers all skill areas, and various dialogue additions. It’ll also include new items, crafting recipes, villager winter outfits, and a new starting farm type, among other improvements to expand on the game’s pre-existing features.

Stardew Valley’s last major content update, the 1.5 update, launched over four years ago in 2020 and featured new additions such as Ginger Island, the Beach Farm layout, and remixed Community Center bundles to add variety to your playthrough. Update 1.6 is seemingly similar in size and complexity, potentially adding more than the previous update.

While ConcernedApe’s latest post reveals that PC players will receive this update in three weeks on March 19, there’s currently no word on when console and mobile players will unlock it. If it follows the same timeline as previous updates, console players will likely receive it shortly after those on PC, with it arriving on mobile sometime after.
