Slick new GDC prototype
In the last month or so, invitations to various virtual reality headset demonstrations have made up a huge chunk of my inbox. GDC is into virtual reality. I worry someone will pull some garish box out of their bag this week, run up to me, stick it on my face and steal my eyes.
Maybe it will be someone from Sony. Maybe even the lovely Shuhei Yoshida himself. PlayStation VP of Publisher & Developer Relations Adam Boyes posted some pictures of Yoshida showing off the latest Morpheus prototype.
This one has a 120hz refresh rate, a 5.7″ OLED display (so it’s a Vita in your face!), “9 LEDs, <18ms delay, 5.7inch screen, 100 degree FOV.” I’ll see what these numbers mean in person later this week.
And it’s launching in the “first half of 2016.” Is this another 3D TV fad, or are you all into the notion of consumer-grade VR?
