Sony to shutter PlayStation Home in Japan and Asia

PlayStation Home is being snuffed out in Japan and the rest of Asia next year.

SCEJA will no longer sell virtual items for the service after September 24, and will close Home’s doors for good in March 2015. Speaking with Game Informer, a PlayStation representative clarified Home will live on in Europe and the Americas, as regions operate independently. Still, it’s safe to assume the end is coming sooner or later.

PlayStation Home is an online virtual world modeled after Second Life. It launched in 2008 and will forever be remembered for the “timeless art” that is Quincying
