He also briefly talks about EA Access

President of Sony’s Worldwide Studios Shuhei Yoshida is a pretty candid dude, and I respect that. Eurogamer recently sat down with the Sony boss to talk shop, mostly about gamescom announcements and a few other developments, and he had a few things to say on some pressing matters.

Regarding Rise of the Tomb Raider, Yoshida notes that he was as surprised as everyone, but says that he “hope[s] the game will come out eventually on PS4.” He also said that “anything Microsoft announces, people complain to me as well. In general there are lots of people who are angry, who emotionally reacted to the announcement. Some people created an image saying negative things, like the end of Tomb Raider. It was a very emotional response.”

In terms of EA Access not coming to PlayStation platforms, Yoshida stated that their initial turn-down might “look aggressive,” but really it’s more of a “business matter” in regards to why they didn’t take it. He also says “nothing is final,” and that it could end up coming at some point in the future.

Finally, on the topic of the Vita’s no-show at gamescom, he said that the main reason is because they were focusing on the PS4, and didn’t want to extend the press conference for too long. He says that he’s “very happy with the games coming out on the PS Vita,” however, and that he “understands” the pain that people are going through, and he’s hard at work on Metrico to address the issue himself.

He says that it’s “still [Sony’s] intent to support the PS Vita.” Well, I hope that support involves more original games!
