Sega has released a new trailer for its upcoming release Sonic Colors: Ultimate. As one would expect from a video titled “HD Updates”, the new preview focuses on the remaster’s super-sharp visuals and new bonus content, ahead of the game’s launch this fall.

Sonic Colors: Ultimate will feature revamped visuals running at a smooth 60 frames-per-second in resolutions up to a stunning 4K. In addition, developer Blind Squirrel has coded an improved lighting engine, helping the Blue Blur to rush through a slicker and more vibrant world than ever before. The Sonic Colors soundtrack has been remixed, giving the classic courses a fresh new sound.

In terms of features, Sonic Colors: Ultimate will be packing new activities in the form of character customization, the new “Tails Save” checkpoint system, a temporary invincibility option, fully customizable controls, and more. The centerpiece is the new “Rival Rush” mode, which will see Sonic race to the finish line in a head-to-head battle with his classic Sonic CD rival, Metal Sonic.

As you can see from the direct comparisons featured in the new trailer, Sonic Colors: Ultimate is looking to inject a sweet dose of modern tech into the 2010 release, which will hopefully make the remaster a blast for both new fans and returning Sonic-lovers. Sonic Colors: Ultimate will launch September 7 on PS4, PC, Xbox One, and Switch.
