Show your tackling talent to win a PS3 and a Blitz: The League II prize package!

I really miss the old “Jacked Up!” segment on ESPN. Tom Jackson and Chris Berman would go through the top five hardest hits of the week in football, and who doesn’t love seeing a bone-crunching shot? (The hosts noted that no hits causing an injury or drawing a penalty were eligible.) Hell, I remember the good old days, when the intro video for NFL GameDay ’97 on the PlayStation was a compilation of big hits.

Speaking of hard hits, Midway’s Blitz: The League II — the latest entry in the long-standing arcade football franchise known for its smash-mouth version of the sport — is coming out on Monday, October 13, for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. So in honor of the game’s impending release, we’ve teamed up with New Media Strategies to give away a very special set of prizes:

Grand Prize (1 winner):

  • a Sony PlayStation 3
  • a copy of Blitz: The League II for the console of your choice
  • a full-size New York Nightmare football helmet (photo attached below; I don’t know if this is actually safe to use in a real football game [update: Midway confirmed that the helmet is “the real deal”])
  • a Blitz: The League II T-shirt
  • a Blitz: The League II hat

Runner-up Prize (1 winner):

  • a copy of Blitz: The League II for the console of your choice
  • a Blitz: The League II T-shirt
  • a Blitz: The League II hat

Does that not sound badass? Now, since this is a hell of a prize package, I’m going to make you work for it. I want a video (no longer than 2 minutes) of you playing football. The four main requirements are these: I need to see you, a football (yes, a NERF football counts), and a tackle. I also need to see/hear “Destructoid” (for verification purposes). The funniest two videos will win. (See Disclaimer below.)

To enter, upload the video somewhere on the Internet (like in a c-blog), and send a link to samit.sarkar+contest2 @ gmail.com with the subject line “Jacked Up!” (one entry per person). You must email me your entry by 11:59 PM EST on Sunday, November 9, 2008 — and by the way, this contest is open to ANYONE, ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD (keep in mind that the prizes will be from the North American region). So listen to Quentin Sands (aka Lawrence Taylor) of the New York Nightmare, and start making those videos!

Disclaimer: Destructoid.com and its employees are not liable for any injury or damage — perceived or real — to any person, place, or thing, that may occur as a result of creating an entry for this contest.
Legalese translation: If, in the course of making an entry, a [noun] is hurt, broken, disfigured, destroyed, etc., no legal action can be taken against us. Nyah, nyah, nyah.
