Featuring Dames making Games, competitive Smash players and more
One of the criticisms that’s commonly levied at feminism (in gaming or otherwise) is that it focuses a lot on what people can’t or shouldn’t do, and not enough on what they can and should do. I don’t share that criticism overall, but I can see why others may feel like feminism in gaming has become synonymous with negativity.
That’s part of why the She Got Game project is so exciting. The documentary series (currently on Kickstarter) aims to look at what’s going right for women in gaming and how to expand on it, as well as the problems they may face. Giving a larger voice to the people like Dames making Games and Smash Bros. Melee expert Lil Chen is something that I can definitely get behind. I hope they get in touch with Brenda Romero, Jessica Nigri, and Erin Reynolds next.
