If you thought Sega was done with the big reveals for the day with Alien vs. Predator, think again. The publisher has revealed that it will be bringing Jambo! Safari to the Wii and Nintendo DS in late 2009.
The game puts players in the role of four customizable safari park rangers, tasking them with becoming the most respected ranger to be found across the African Plains. You’ll be rescuing animals, treating them for various ailments before releasing them back into the wild, along with other privacy-invading activities like taking their picture.
Sega says the game is based on the 90s arcade title of the same name, but I must admit I’ve never even heard of it. Lazy, half-assed Internet “research” reveals that the arcade version was a sit-down driving game, complete with a zebra-print seat.
While zebra-print anything is pretty awesome, I’m a bit disappointed Sega isn’t porting Let’s Go Jungle!: Lost on the Island of Spice to the Wii. In that game, you shoot giant spiders on a safari trip gone awry… which is way more exciting than taking pictures of giraffes, or nursing an elephant with a broken leg back to full health.
