Picking the best clan in Ryujin is just one part of your build but it’s one of the major pillars of a strong character. There’s a bit of nuance since you can boost progression with some common and uncommon clans before you secure the best fighting clan later on. Here’s my Ryujin clan tier list and guide.

I didn’t list all clans in Ryujin because the other Legendaries and Rares are suboptimal compared to the ones on the tier list. That said, if you have a specific build the other Legendaries and Evolved clans can work but note that the ones on the tier list are the best clans in Ryujin. As for the beginner clans, they’re not necessarily the strongest and get outmatched later on by unlisted clans but they’re incredible early for progression.

Tier 1 Clans
| Clan | Ranking Notes |
|---|---|
| Hanma Mythic | • The best clan in the game IMO since the muscle gain secures your stamina/fatigue management • Plus it’s incredible for both damage and defense both due to the clan buffs but also the Demon Back mode • Demon Back in general is the best mode in the game for the AOE stun and skill-disable that can go up to 20 seconds with the card • Last but not least the Total Violence style has a ton of damage with damage amplification, bleed and debuffs • Top 1 clan in Ryujin easily |
| Tokita Mythic | • The best progression booster among Mythics since locked-in stat farming is twice as fast which along with the usual Mythic 20% boosted stat gain works really well • Advance is one of the best modes in the game but note that it’s really tough to grind • Niko is very good for PVP but due to the lack of % damage you’ll struggle a bit in PVP |
| Mikazuchi Mythic | • The fastest Clan in the game that’s all about the Raishin FS • You get faster dashes, Raishin has the fastest M1s and good DOTs and both of these make you strong in PVP but also great for strength grinding due to fast attacks • I feel like it’s the third best in the game since the mode could be a bit stronger but it’s still in the top 3 |
Tier 2 Clans
| Clan | Ranking Notes |
|---|---|
| Kure > Wu Mythic > Evolved | • Both Kure’s Traditions FS and Removal are Meta picks, especially for the Avidya combo extension which is an amazing debuff move and the buffs from Removal • Also lessens the grind for money/food since you can regen hunter by hitting players and therefore have more money for other aspects • A great overall pick |
| Park > Yamazaki Mythic > Evolved | • Just a bunch of useful buffs that are accompanied by the Copy skill • Playing around copied skills is really fun if you know the game well and you get +0.25% Mastery from using copied skills • Yamazaki also gives you excellent defensive buffs • That said Park into Yamazaki is not the peak of Ryjin since the Mythics in the top 1 tier just specialize better for PVP and PVE |
| Sta Legendary | • Sta is the biggest progression booster amongst Legendaries since it buffs your stat gain more than the other leggies • You also get increased attack speed which cuts down time for quests where you have to strike X number of times • Lastly you get more movement speed to finish jobs faster • Darkness Blow is decent but Sta is mainly used to grind for something specific from the higher-tiers |
| Choi Legendary | • The gang farm powerhouse that massively buffs money, damage and capture speed for your entire gang • Meta for gang-focused gameplay, skip if solo |
| Jang Legendary | • Jang is incredibly good for two reasons • First, you practically get a pseudo-revive that stuns enemies who proc it at your 10% HP threshold giving you 20% HP back and opening up enemies for a combo which is so strong • Second, you can learn Animal Instinct which got heavily buffed and deals massive bleed damage • It’s not S-Tier since you have to be low HP to use it but it’s still really good |
Tier 3 Clans
| Clan | Ranking Notes |
|---|---|
| Biscuit Rare | • Just an overall great boost to stamina and therefore less fatigue due to increased muscle gain • Gives you more options/actions before you gass out • Plus you get more damage from muscle scaling |
| Hammer Rare | • Essentially speeds up your farming since you get more up-time due to the slower fatigue gain • Bite is also a great early skill since it can proc bleed |
| Sano Rare | • Amazing early if you’re playing with a gang to boost team progression • Every gang is always on the lookout for a Sano and Choi player • Don’t take it if you plan to play solo • You also get a kick damage boost with Nuclear Kick being a nice addition to your moveset |
| Akezawa/Yamashita/Soo Uncommon/Common/Uncommon | • The brunt of your progression at the beginning is all dependent on cash so these clans will boost your cash farming • I’d say they’re a must-have early but if you get lucky and get something better stick with that |
| Zenin Uncommon | • Just an overall speed-boost for stat grinding early but look to replace it when you can |
