Rumor: Microsoft in talks to bring TV to Live

Anonymous sources have told Bloomberg that former News Corporation president Peter Chernin has been in talks with Microsoft regarding the development of a television channel provided for Xbox Live users. Chernin reportedly suggested that MS could raise the subscription rate for Live by $1-2 monthly and provide customers with a dedicated channel of original and re-aired television programming.

You know, provided it were an optional service I could subscribe to monthly with a wide range of programming and the ability to watch on-demand, I might be willing to pay for that. Tall order, though, and the content would have to be really good with services like Hulu already filling much of that niche for me.
