Rockstar Games acquires L.A. Noire remaster’s studio

In this case, there's no reason to doubt. It's the truth.

Rockstar Games announced on Monday that it has acquired the Australian L.A. Noire remaster studio Video Games Deluxe. This developer has also worked on L.A. Noire: The VR Files and the update to the Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy remaster.

“After working together closely over many years, we are excited to have Video Games Deluxe join the team as Rockstar Australia,” said Rockstar Games Head of Publishing Jennifer Kolbe in a press release.

It would be great if Rockstar made a new L.A. Noire

While Video Games Deluxe officially began in 2013, Rockstar’s history with the studio’s founder Brendan McNamara goes back further than that. McNamara also formed Team Bondi, the developer that created L.A. Noire before it entered liquidation in 2011. Whether or not a new L.A. Noire game is on the table after its remaster in 2017 remains to be seen, but it would certainly be welcome to fans of the narrative-focused game.

“It’s been an honor to work closely with Rockstar Games this past decade,” said McNamara in a press release. “We are thrilled to be a part of Rockstar Games and to continue our efforts to make the best games possible.”

Rockstar Games is currently focusing on the 2025 launch of Grand Theft Auto VI, which will introduce the franchise’s first female protagonist. The publisher/developer on the GTA 6 website says it will be the “biggest, most immersive evolution of the Grand Theft Auto series yet.” No release date has been provided for the highly anticipated title. Expect a lot of delays on games from other publishers once it is announced, however, as they likely want to avoid competition with such a prominent game release.
