The cat is out of the bag: well, it was sort of out of the bag already, but now it’s fully out. The GTA Trilogy has been fully, finally confirmed by Rockstar, and it even has a landing page and everything. It’s due out on November 11 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch, for 60 bucks. GTA Trilogy is also getting a physical release on December 7 on Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Switch, and PS4. Note that as usual, the “PC” platform actually means “Rockstar Games Launcher.”

So here’s the scoop. The game will sport a new GTAV-style control method, with “improved gunplay and targeting controls,” updated selection wheels, better maps, and the chance to “immediately restart a failed mission” (this is going to be nice across all the games, as they typically have at least one frustrating quest).

All three titles will also utilize higher-resolution textures, a “completely rebuild lighting system,” better weather and water effects/trees, and increased draw distance. On PS5 and Xbox Series X, it supports up to 4K60FPS gameplay, with Nvidia DLSS PC support. On Switch, we’ll get touch-screen camera zooming/menu/pans, and gyro aiming.

Having lived through the early console wars, when some people touted the PS2 as the pinnacle of gaming when GTA III came out, this is all pretty surreal. While GTA has dabbled with Nintendo handhelds in the past, it’s wild to see three fully-fledged games on a Nintendo console.
