During its E3 2013 press conference, Microsoft started off with a surprise announcement: a new Xbox 360 console with a “modern look and feel based on the Xbox One design” that’s shipping today to retailers in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, and Ireland with more regions over the next few months. Pricing is staying the same: $199.99 for the 4 GB console, and $299.99 for the 250 GB console or the 4GB Kinect Bundle.

Additionally, Xbox Live Gold members will be getting two free games per month until the Xbox One launches in November, starting off with Assassin’s Creed II and Halo 3. Currently, Fable III is free as part of an E3 promotion. Someone’s been watching Sony’s PlayStation Plus program, eh?
