Red Faction Guerrilla ditches Games for Windows Live for Steam

Alright, I’m in

It’s a good time to get back into Red Faction Guerrilla. The game’s destruction tech holds up well and, now that Games for Windows Live has been pushed aside to make room for Steamworks support for multiplayer (which is shockingly fun), playing with others is less of a hassle.

The update that enables Steam functionality for achievements, leaderboards, voice chat, trading cards, matchmaking, and multiplayer is now live. This new version of Guerrilla will attempt to use your existing Games for Windows Live save file the next time you launch the game. Other changes, like more localizations and DirectX 11 support, are also included.

If you don’t own Guerrilla on PC, it’s on sale for $2.99 until December 5. I’m finally ready to double dip. This was and will surely still be one of my favorite sandbox games.
