Resident Evil Requiem is one of 2026’s finest games. Back when it came out, our wonderful Scott Duwe gave it a 9.5, and having played it myself, I don’t think he missed the mark by one bit. Since then, it’s been radio silence on Capcom’s part regarding the franchise, except for that one trailer for the Code Veronica remake, and speculations on the DLC and its contents have been running rampant for months.
Now, though, we seem to know a little bit about what the DLC will entail, and it actually seems to be either a prequel or a flashback-based story of sorts. Speaking on the DistanceNERDing podcast, writer Haris Orkin revealed that he’s working on a Resident Evil Requiem DLC involving Oswell E. Spencer, the overarching villain of the series and founder of Umbrella Corps.

Orkin did not disclose too many details, but explaining his approach to writing villains in stories like Resident Evil‘s, he said “an arc” dedicated to Spencer will be in the DLC. He admits he “probably shouldn’t say that,” but we’re more than happy to hear it anyway. Spencer was presented in an utterly different way in Requiem compared to the other games, and by the end seemed to have reached a semi-retribution through flashbacks regarding Grace.
He isn’t a monster any longer nor someone obsessed with power and control, and seemed to regret his actions from the past 10 in-game years. This appears to reflect Orkin’s style somewhat, but since we’re going to understand his villains better through the DLC’s Spencer, I reckon we’ll be going back to the old-fashioned aristocrat rather than sticking with his current iteration.
