PUP’s new music video makes good use of classic games

Go home and be a family man

Earlier today, Darren passed along this music video for Torontonian punk band PUP’s song “DVP” as a thing we might be interested in covering, and he made the right call. Always bet on Darren.

The video, directed by Jeremy Schaulin-Rioux, is made up of snippets from real old-school video games (and, uh, one of the Game Boy Advance Pokémon titles) with the song’s lyrics stitched in. The rather amusing end result has Princess Peach saying she doesn’t give a shit and Kirby acknowledging that he might have a drinking problem. I had my suspicions.

While the concept seems familiar, the execution is strong. I even dig the track!
