PSP music title Traxion cancelled

There have been rumblings around the Destructoid office cooler for awhile now, but Gamespot has confirmed what we had feared to be true — LucasArts have pulled the plug on the intriguing PSP music title, Traxion.

The game was a hidden gem among the games at last year’s E3, combining music and mini-games together for an experience that promised to be unlike anything else. Traxion was not only set to ship with music already loaded on the UMD, but also had the ability to read mp3s and tags from your own memory stick to create experiences that would be different for each player. A lot of other features were planned for the game including a music-based fighting game, a virtual drum kit, and more.

The PSP is the perfect platform for interactive experiences like those promised from Traxion — let’s hope that we’ll see something equally as interesting before we start getting more Wii ports.
