This is the 27th of Last Seed, the Year of Akatosh 433. These are the closing days of the Third Era and the final hours of my life.

Yep, the third age is finally done with, as we’ve moved away from the “three point something” firmware updates and are now entering the glorious world of fours! That’s as many as two twos! Firmware update v.4.00 has been released to the delight of PlayStation Blog commenters, and we are all excited to see that green loading bar again.

The main focus of this update is to pave the way for the PlayStation Vita. With the fresh firmware, users will be ready to transfer music, photos, videos and games between the PS3 and the upcoming handheld. You will also be able to back up Vita saves on the PS3 and use the home console to update the Vita‘s firmware. Boy, I’m glad Sony’s thinking about software updates for the Vita already!

Let the golden fourth era commence!
