Planet Coaster to release November 17, 2016

The true Roller Coaster Tycoon successor

In case you were unaware, the team behind the fan-favorite Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 has been making their own theme park simulator. That would be Frontier, who also developed the Elite series and Screamride. The game has been available in alpha form for a while, but in just under two months the full game will finally release on November 17.

Maybe Planet Coaster wasn’t at the top of your list for gamescom, but they have released a number of gameplay videos, the fourth developer diary, as well as two live streams of about four hours each. I might get accused of shilling or advertising this game, but it just looks so charming to not be getting more attention than it is.

If watching the developer diaries and trailers don’t make you smile, there’s something wrong with you. It looks like a damn Pixar movie and apparently is fun to play as well. Many are pitting Planet Coaster vs. Roller Coaster Tycoon, the newest official game in the series being published by Atari, as competitors. RCT World has yet to receive an official release date however, and has thus far had negative reception.

I personally can’t wait to start torturing treating my guinea pigs customers with coasters that send them to flying into water, walls, or the nearby french fry stand, where I’ll have my minimum-wagers over-salt the fries and then jack up the prices on drinks at the nearby drink stand.
