According to the latest issue of OXM, fans of the magazine will soon find a digital counterpart on the Xbox Live Marketplace. Available sometime this month (which I can’t personally confirm due to a sick Xbox 360), the online mag will mirror the print version and include some extra interactive content that just can’t be done in print — such as gamer pics, themes, videos, and galleries. As expected, exclusive game demos will still be the focal point of OXM Digital, and will be available for purchase for a mere 200 Microsoft Points ($2.50).
As the Editor-In-Chief Francesca Reyes points out, OXM Digital will not be taking the place of the magazine found on newsstands. It is just an alternative for those of you who wish you could get your hands on the demo disk each month, without a trip to the store to get it. For those that don’t have access to Xbox Live, the disks will still be included with the print magazine.
Another thing mentioned briefly, is that the Official Xbox Magazine is hard at work developing their own website. I’ve been wondering for several years why one hasn’t already existed alongside Team Xbox, and Xbox.com, but it appears to be a matter of red tape and bureaucracy getting in the way. There is little else in terms of details concerning specifics of the future website, but if you want to find out more about OXM Digital, you can find a FAQ of sorts here.
