Original Final Fantasy on PlayStation Network

Square Enix, seemingly encouraged by the huge download numbers for Final Fantasy VII, has revealed that the PSOne version of the original Final Fantasy is its latest revisited classic on the PlayStation Network. Final Fantasy: Origins made an appearance on the Japanese PSN today, though currently there is no word on when North America or Europe can get their grotty hands on it.

Final Fantasy is to Square Enix what Resident Evil is to Capcom, being that the original game has been released, remade and re-released roughly 800,000,000 times. One more release isn’t going to hurt, and it’s an encouraging sign that Square Enix will continue to support the PSN with its back catalogue of awesome PSOne games. Could Final Fantasy IX make an appearance in the future? I certainly hope that my favorite FF game is on the cards.

The PS3 really has become the greatest PSX I’ve ever owned.
