Plus pre-loading details and system requirements

I keep forgetting that Doom is releasing on a Friday (May 13). Good timing on the “Friday the 13th” front, for one, but also having a whole weekend to tear through a new game? Much appreciated.

Bethesda has shared the launch details and if you’re looking to get in as early as possible, here’s what you need to know. While pre-loading for the Xbox One version of Doom is now available for digital purchases (clear up 50GB of storage space!), PC and PlayStation 4 players will have to wait until 12:00am Eastern on May 11 before they can start downloading the files. The game will then unlock on all three platforms at 12:00am Eastern on May 13.

If you still need ’em, these are the PC system requirements:

Minimum:

  • Windows 7/8.1/10 (64-bit versions); Intel Core i5-2400/AMD FX-8320 or better;
  • 8 GB RAM; 55 GB free HDD space; Nvidia GTX 670 2GB/AMD Radeon HD 7870 2GB or better
  • Contains a single disc. Download of additional files from Steam (total amount 45 GB) is required to run the game.
  • Requires Steam activation and broadband internet connection for Multiplayer and SnapMap.
