Nintendo will patch save files for Skyward Sword bug

Ah, game bugs. There’s an infestation lately. The ones in Skyrim are fun, though. Sometimes. But not being able to progress in The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword? Not so fun. We told you earlier that there are directions to avoid the progress-stopping bug, but spoilers are involved, and no one wants that. How about a save file patch?

Nintendo has acknowledged the bug in Japan, and has a webpage dedicated to avoiding the issue (Japanese).

But what if you’ve already gone too far and have already ruined your save file? Good news: Nintendo is offering to fix it for you. One fix involves sending in either your SD card or Wii system to Nintendo. According to the issue page they say it could take a week to patch, and that the super busy New Year’s holiday season in Japan (their biggest holiday) could make that wait even longer.

The other fix is something they’re still working on: a downloadable program to patch the save file. Nintendo Japan’s website will announce its release as soon as its ready.

What about us here in the west? Stay tuned. I’m sure Nintendo will take care of us.
