Nintendo is offering double gold point rewards on select games

Nintendo double gold point 1

Through January 5 at 11:59PM PT

For those of you who buy things on the eShop on Switch, there’s a Nintendo double gold point promo going on right now. It’s very limited, but it’s probably something you should know about if you plan on spending some gift cards.

Basically, there’s Nintendo double gold point rewards for select games: Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury, Miitopia, and Luigi’s Mansion 3 (as well as DLC for Luigi). To break things down, Nintendo provides “gold points” to people, which are basically “Nintendo Bucks” that you can use to get discounts on future games.

So you’re paying $60 now to get cash back for the same storefront for later. Normally, you’d get 300 gold, which is 5% back, and equates to roughly $3 of real money. But with double, you’d get 10% back, or 600 gold, or $6. You can find the full breakdown here if you need it. Note that all of these are still listed at a full $60 price, with the exception of Miitopia, which is $50. The promo runs from now until January 5 at 11:590PM PT.

As a reminder, you can find our full My Nintendo guide here: bookmark it for when you need quick points for a reward. A handful of platinum points is incredibly easy to get, as that’s basically just 15 minutes with Super Mario Run, or a quick sign-on to the 3DS or Wii U 3Shop. Also remember that any shipments are bundled together, so you can pay a flat rate for multiple items instead of paying it each time. Just know that items go out of stock on My Nintendo frequently, and some are never restocked.
