Nice! Games with Gold has The Banner Saga 2 in July

Tumblestone also seems worth a look

I don’t like being down on Games with Gold, but looking over the list for July, I have to largely focus on a single title — Stoic’s story-centric tactical RPG The Banner Saga 2 — if I want to stay truly upbeat.

Considering how recent and warmly regarded the game is, that’s a good get for Xbox Live Gold subscribers. While it’s better experienced if you’ve played the original, given that player choices carry over, there is a recap video and you can still make a major decision if you aren’t importing save data.

This is the full list. You’ll need to be a Gold member to get these at no additional cost and both of the Xbox 360 titles are also playable on Xbox One thanks to backward compatibility.

Xbox One

  • The Banner Saga 2 (July 1 – July 31)
  • Tumblestone (July 16 – August 15)

Xbox 360

  • Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Vegas 2 (July 1 – July 15)
  • TRON: Evolution (July 16 – July 31)

If you need a refresher on what these look like, dig in:

Patrick called Tumblestone the “most intelligent” match-three game he’s played, so I’ll have to try that.
