Much-welcomed RTS Facebook action with War Commander

Friggin’ Words With Friends! I wish my so-called “friends” would stop telling me it’s my move when I don’t recall ever agreeing to play the damn thing with them in the first place. Let’s forget about that and other similar Facebook titles and instead talk about something a little more robust — War Commander.

Developed by KIXEYE, the team that also made Backyard Monsters, War Commander is a free-to-play game modeled after the Command & Conquer series. It attempts to bring the full real-time strategy experience to Facebook, so it may be appetizing if you require a meatier diversion. If you need an incentive to check it out, from today up until midnight next Tuesday, February 21, KIXEYE is running the “Operation: Red Storm” event, during which new weapons and laser tanks will be made available.

I’ve embedded the War Commander‘s original trailer after the jump for a brief glimpse of some gameplay, then you can play it for yourself here.
