So, we’re getting a new Street Fighter, and we’re getting a new Tekken — Time to complete the unholy trinity, right? Well, here you go, a brand new Mortal Kombat! (mobile game). Currently in development at NetherRealm Studios, Mortal Kombat: Onslaught will launch on iOS and Android in 2023.

This brand new RPG, set within the hyper-violent world of MK, will allow players to build up a team of their favorite kombatants, and embark upon a brand new, original storyline — a first for MK’s mobile gaming releases. Described as a collection (or “kollection”?) RPG, it sounds like Mortal Kombat: Onslaught will feature an abundance of goodies to gather, or likely — being a WB Games joint — buy.

“We are pushing the boundaries of Mortal Kombat to allow players to experience the franchise in new ways, while still staying true to its core visceral nature,” said Ed Boon, Chief Creative Officer of NetherRealm Studios. “With Mortal Kombat: Onslaught, we reimagined Mortal Kombat into a strategic team-based collection RPG with fast-paced, group melee combat that both new and existing fans can enjoy.”

NRS did not release any trailer or screens from the new project, aside from some key splash art depicting MK legends such as Raiden, Baraka, Jade, and, of course, Sub-Zero and Scorpion, battling it out in the plains of Outworld. I’m sure that NetherRealm and WB Games will be sure to ply us with more details and information as development continues.

Mortal Kombat: Onslaught will launch on iOS and Android platforms in 2023. Interested Outworlders can sign up for more info over at the official website.
