Monthly Musing: Groundhog Day

Recommended Videos

Last month’s topic was a huge success — we got tons of great entries to promote, and a lot of people admitted that 2010 was actually a great year for games, even though they couldn’t find anything positive to write about back for December’s musing.

Now that February’s here, I have a new Musing for you. Rather than do the cliche thing and have you write about love for Valentine’s Day, I’ve instead decided to turn to Bill Murray for inspiration. For February, in honor of Groundhog Day, I want you to think and write about a specific game that you just keep playing and coming back to.

Share your experiences with the game and write anything you want — why you love the game so much, what it is that keeps you coming back for more, specific experiences or stories about a particular game, or anything else as long as it’s about a game you keep coming back to. The main rule is that it should be about a specific game, and your blog should have something to do with the fact that you keep coming back to and/or can’t stop playing this particular game. No limits as to what games are up for discussion and no limit on how you choose to write about whatever game you pick, so you can talk about your crippling WoW addiction and that time you pooped into a sock because you were in the middle of an eight hour raid you’ve done 200 times before, an old multiplayer game you still play with your buddies when they come over, or why you feel compelled to complete that 80 hour JRPG at least once every six months.

To participate, just click “Post A Blog” up there in the upper right of the screen, title your post “Groundhog Day: WhateverYourTitleIs”, make sure you pick the “Monthly Musing” from the tag list (this is important!), write it up, and set it live. If your article is particularly well-written or sparks interesting discussion, we’ll stick it up on the front page. Don’t forget to read the the guidelines. A good blog will get promoted regardless, but following all these rules will really help me out, and help get your blogs to the front page faster.
