One of the largest sets of content is on the way right now for Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2. Season 4 is about to release, offering players the chance to explore new locales across both games, check out new game modes, and even use some new weapons.

Modern Warfare 2 Season 4 release date

The Warzone 2 and Modern Warfare 2 Season 4 release date is currently set for Wednesday, June 14, 2023. On that day, players will be able to download the upcoming, presumably large patch on all platforms and check out the new content that’s arrived.

As you might expect, there are the usual trappings of a new Battle Pass to progress through, new operator skins to unlock, and plenty of cosmetics to spend currency on. However, there is also the single largest addition of content in a season to date for these games as well.

What’s new for Modern Warfare 2

From what Activision has teased for the upcoming Modern Warfare 2 Season 4, we know that there are going to be a lot of goodies for players. There are a whopping seven new multiplayer maps coming out for this new season, across all game modes.

  • Showdown
  • Kustenaar District
  • Mawizeh Marsh
  • Mercado
  • Penthouse
  • Ahkdar Village

If you like Ground War, you’ll have some new maps to explore. If you prefer the more traditional 6v6 multiplayer modes, there’s content for you. And if you prefer the 2v2 Gunfight mode, there are even two new maps for that as well.

MW2 is also channeling a bit of Vanguard with its two new massive game modes in Season 4: 12v12 Search & Destroy and 12v12 Prisoner Rescue. These are the same modes from the core multiplayer experience but with a whopping 24 players in the lobby.

Finally, there are three new weapons for you to use in the form of the following:

  • Tempus Razorback assault rifle
  • ISO 45 SMG
  • Tonfa melee weapon

All three of these weapons are also available for Warzone 2 in Season 4.

What’s new for Warzone 2

In addition to having access to the three new weapons in Season 4, Warzone 2 players will also have their own additional content to explore. Interestingly enough, it appears there’s going to be a rebranding of the battle royale game. It is dropping the sequel number to now officially be known as “Warzone.”

Alongside that massive change is the brand new battle royale map in Vondel. This seemingly Amsterdam-inspired city map is medium in size, slotting nicely between the current maps of Al Mazrah and Ashika Island. Apparently, it won’t be replacing Al Mazrah, either.

Vondel will feature Resurgence and DMZ at launch, with normal battle royale modes to come later down the line. This new map arrives with other new content in the battle royale game, including a new contract, new enemy faction, vehicle, field upgrade, and more.

We’ll be sure to break down the impending patch notes and everything else in Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 Season 4 when it drops on June 14.
