Modern day gadgets, 70s wood panelling

Recommended Videos

The future sucks. Everything is so streamlined and shiny looking. What happened to wood panelling? Wood panelling was awesome and made everything look high class. But no, once we leave the 1970s everyone starts making things out of shiny metals or glass or other “modern” stuff. I spit on shiny metal, and so does graphic designer Alex Varanese who decided he’d take today’s technology and retro-fit it for around 30 years ago.

Obviously the one pertaining to this videogame site is the redesigned handheld, which sports sexy, sexy wood paneling and massive cartridges for games. However, the entire series is quite enjoyable, and I’d definitely lay down some solid money to have a laptop that looks like that. I put the fake handheld advertisements below, but I’d definitely recommend heading over to Varanese’s site to check out the rest of the ALT1977 collection. The copy on the ads is especially enjoyable.
