Microsoft has announced that they will be ending sales for the original Kinect for Windows sensor in 2015. Since the “v2” edition (Xbox One) is available, it makes sense to phase out the original. They’ve reminded developers that the new sensor boasts 1080p video and an expanded field of view, and the SDK 2.0 development kit has been far expanded past the inagural effort’s capabilities.

It also calls the Kinect a “milestone achievement in the world of natural human computing.” Note that the word “game” or “gaming” wasn’t used anywhere in that phrase.
