Despite the fact that Sony, Nintendo, Valve, and pretty much every other digital content provider out there is using real money currency to conduct eShopping, Microsoft is still insistent on using their own proprietary Microsoft Point system.
Regarding said system a bit of confusion was had yesterday, as a number of avatar items were switched from MS points to local currency values. Since a report earlier this year alleged that Microsoft was going to phase out MS Points by the end of 2012, the move looked like a deliberate roll-out. Unfortunately Microsoft confirmed to Games Industry Biz that the move was “in error” and is “being resolved.”
Last year, Nintendo moved from Wii Points and DSi Points to cold hard cash on the eShop: a move that may be replicated on the Wii U.
