Microsoft won’t be at GamesCom, Tokyo Game Show

Microsoft will not be attending either GamesCom or Tokyo Game Show. It makes total sense since, given the company’s E3 showing, it seems like a venue where videogames are to be shown off is the last thing Microsoft could be interested in.

“As you saw at E3, we have a solid line-up of games launching this holiday, along with other entertainment experiences,” bullshitted Microsoft. “We’ve changed our approach a little, though. This year, Xbox will be focusing on smaller, more localized promotions and experiences for press, partners, retailers and customers around the world.

“Which means that as you might have seen on some of the news sites today, we won’t be taking part in gamescom or Tokyo Games Show this year.”

Both of these events have the word “game” in their name rather than “Nike,” “ESPN,” or “Stupid,” otherwise MS might be singing a different tune. It’s a real shame though, because I’m sure GamesCom and the Tokyo Game Show would have been better with Kinect, like everything else in the world is.
