Microsoft is building a platform that would bring Xbox Live to iOS and Android, The Verge reports. This was hinted at with a job posting for engineers to help build it, which read, “We will create a modern framework that is open-source, lightweight, extensible and scalable across various platforms including Windows Store, Windows Phone, iOS, and Android.”

According to The Verge sources, Microsoft is trying to “win back” developers by making it easy to integrate Xbox Live into their games. Currently Xbox Live requires certification and Microsoft’s go ahead, but the company is planning to ease up on restrictions to encourage more developers to integrate Xbox Live into their games, regardless of platform.

Is that what you’ve been missing in your mobile gaming life? Microsoft and its achievements, friends list, and matchmaking? Am I a curmudgeon if I still basically don’t play games on my phone?
