Microsoft talks upcoming Xbox LIVE Gold Family Pack

Recommended Videos

The announcement of the Xbox LIVE Gold Family Pack, four individual Xbox LIVE subscriptions for a single household at a reduced cost, reminds me — how are they only now coming out with something like this?

Anyone who has ever attempted to have multiple accounts running on the same network will tell you horror stories. This new package, thankfully, costs $99.99; sounds like a lot, but it’s a reduced cost versus straight-up buying XBL accounts the current way.

When this hits in November — Microsoft seems to be targeting the inevitable early adopters for Kinect — it will include a few worthwhile features: Family Center for account management and family settings (also available via Xbox.com); the primary LIVE account can purchase/distribute Microsoft Points to other members; activity monitoring; “simplified billing”; and “exclusive family content and discounts.”

It’s a shame this won’t be offered anytime soon. I’m interested to hear what those of you with a family think — does it sound at all appealing?

[Thanks, FalconReaper]
