During its Xbox reveal event today in Redmond, Microsoft unveiled the first details on its new home console. It’s called the — wait for it — Xbox One. Didn’t see that one coming, now did you? No real launch window was confirmed other than “later this year.”

President of interactive entertainment Don Mattrick said that “team Xbox is on a new mission: design and build an all-in-one system,” one with “hardware, software, and services that put you at the center.” He says that “at its very core it must be simple, instant, and complete.”

Early announced system specs include a Blu-ray drive, 500 GB hard drive, 8 GB of RAM, an 8-core CPU, and 802.11n wireless. Are you ready for the new console generation?
