This past weekend, a leaked document detailing what was and likely still is at least partially the plan for Microsoft’s next Xbox got spread around the Internet. Described as being six times more powerful and due out in late 2013, the Xbox 720 was said to support Blu-ray, native 3D output, a new version of Kinect, and augmented-reality “Fortaleza” glasses.
While the 56-page document itself was dated August 2010, it did make reference to some elements that have panned out, such as SmartGlass. If it were a fake, someone sure took a lot of time working on it. Speaking to Eurogamer, a company spokesperson offered a non-comment which neither confirmed or denied the document’s accuracy.
The original document was hosted on Scribd, though that has since been removed at the request of law firm Covington & Burling LLP, which lists Microsoft as a client. Now, we’re hearing reports that Microsoft has issued takedown notices to websites like Dropbox and Czech Republic-based tech site Ihned.cz.
Well, that’s certainly one way to get even more eyes on your document and essentially confirm that, yes, it actually is yours. Funny how that works.
