Windows 7 and 8.1 users have one year to upgrade at no charge
Microsoft is launching Windows 10 this summer in 190 countries and 111 languages, which is good to know but not all that inherently interesting. This, on the other hand, sure is: during the operating system’s first year, it’ll be a free (permanent) upgrade for Windows 7, Windows 8.1, and Windows Phone 8.1 users including those who are running pirated versions of Windows.
“We believe customers over time will realize the value of properly licensing Windows and we will make it easy for them to move to legitimate copies,” a Microsoft rep told Eurogamer.
Guess that means we can all play Gigantic together. Dibs on the owl guy.
