Pro-tip: Microsoft isn’t keen on leaks, especially Halo-related ones.

CVG is reporting that a handful of French people have Halo: ODST in advance of its September release date. Some of these owners have been just too excited to not share their sweet score with the Internet. They’ve been posting (now-defunct) YouTube videos of their sweet score and drawing attention to the leak.

In response to the leak — not the stupid behavior — Microsoft has begun investigating Xbox LIVE accounts with ties to ODST. A representative told CVG that they will “take action” against any nefarious owners, but didn’t go into specifics.

At first it seemed like the spokesperson was hinting that any early owner — either a pirate or a chap who purchases a legitimate disk from a crooked retailer — would be in trouble with the platform publisher. Not true. Xbox LIVE’s Stephen Toulouse clarified on Twitter, stating that Microsoft “will not be banning legitimate customers from Xbox LIVE who play early.”

Good. That means it’s acceptable to convince a Toys R Us clerk to run to the storeroom and sell you a copy. Go Go Go!
