Microsoft confirms internal memory in new Xbox 360 Arcades

Recommended Videos

It had existed as a rumor for a while, but the news of Xbox 360 Arcades shipping with 265MB of internal storage has now been confirmed by Microsoft. Arcade units will no longer need external memory cards, coming packed with the tools needed to save a couple of games and remind you that you need a hard drive.

“We are constantly updating the console’s more than 1700 internal components,” confirmed an MS rep. “We can confirm that we are moving to internal memory for the Xbox 360 Arcade. The physical internal memory is the same size as the previous external memory units — 256MB.”

Is it just me, or has this generation seen a ridiculous amount of SKU releases and updates? It’s largley due to rise of the blogs that have seen this kind of stuff reported on more, but I still don’t recall the PlayStation 2 and Xbox having this much crap on the shelves.

And then we have the Wii, which hasn’t changed in all the time it’s been released, outselling the lot of it.
