In an email to employees made public this morning, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella went over his strategy for the company in what he calls “a mobile-first and cloud-first world.” As part of the address, he covered his thoughts on the Xbox brand and its importance to Microsoft.

“The single biggest digital life category, measured in both time and money spent, in a mobile-first world is gaming,” said Nadella. “We are fortunate to have Xbox in our family to go after this opportunity with unique and bold innovation. Microsoft will continue to vigorously innovate and delight gamers with Xbox.” Could this mean we’ll see more Xbox-branded stuff on mobile?

Nadella went on to say that Microsoft also benefits from “technologies flowing from our gaming efforts into our productivity efforts” like Kinect for Windows and Azure cloud enhancements for GPU simulation. “Bottom line, we will continue to innovate and grow our fan base with Xbox while also creating additive business value for Microsoft.”
