Live-action series Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn detailed

Those of you saddened by the death of the Halo film will want to read Variety’s report on the next live-action project for the franchise, Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn. It’s a five-installment video series that will play on Machinima and Halo Waypoint ahead of the game’s release this November.

The story will center around Master Chief and tie in with Halo 4‘s plot, as one might expect, but the hope is to also bring in newcomers who aren’t quite so familiar with the established fiction. 343 Industries director of franchise business development Matt McCloskey says this is “not just a marketing piece.”

“We wanted to go way beyond that and transform this live-action exploration from advertising into a full standalone product that people will enjoy.” Although a big budget doesn’t guarantee greatness, it’s interesting to note that Forward Unto Dawn will be Microsoft’s “largest investment” in live action to date.
