But is it too little too late?
The latest patch for Halo: The Master Chief Collection — which focuses on “ranking, matchmaking penalties, stability, as well as game-specific improvements for each title” — also confirms that progress on the remastered Halo 3: ODST is “on track”.
You might remember that while ODST was originally not included in the collection, 343i offered it as free DLC further as an apology to fans for issues that swamped the game’s online and multiplayer functionality.
In order to get this free DLC, you’ll need to be an “online user” that played the game — or at least attempted to — between November 11 and December 19, 2014.
“Additionally, we’re excited about the progress of the Relic multiplayer map remake and the Campaign for Halo 3: ODST, both of which are on track to release within Halo: The Master Chief Collection next month with our next content update,” says a post on Halo Waypoint.
“Look for more details next month, including the final map name for the Relic remake, release date and more.”
To hold us over, 343 also provided a handful of stunning screenshots in a selection of wallpaper-friendly sizes.
As for the patch itself? Full details are on the website update, but tweaks have been made to ranking, including a reset for Halo 2: Anniversary.
Campaign-specific issues are also being addressed, including that irritating bug that saw off-host players deal more damage in P2P combat in Halo CE, matchmaking modifications on Halo 2 Classic’s Team Ball, and “significant” improvements to Halo 3’s audio and multiplayer stability.
Parties also have been tweaked to improve voice chat consistency, prevent lost chat connections at the end of the games, and a speed boost so that your roster populates more speedily whilst scanning your Friends List for potential co-op Spartans.
