Konami to distribute 4mm’s Def Jam Rapstar

Konami has confirmed that this fall it will distribute the hip-hip “karaoke” and social media title, Def Jam Rapstar. The game will be co-published by Autumn Games with 4mm Games, Def Jam Interactive, and Terminal Reality on the development side. The title will be released for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Wii.

Def Jam Rapster mixes karaoke-style hip-hop performance with the ability to record and share performance in-game and via the web. The title will ship with hip-hip songs on the disc, including tracks from Slick Rick, Wu-Tang Clan, 2 Pac, Lil’ Wayne, and more.

“Hip hop music has for 30 years re-defined the sound, boundaries and culture of popular music,” Shinji Hirano, President of Konami Digital Entertainment said in a press release like he rocks Funkmaster Flex mix tapes in his office. “We look to bring that ambition to fruition by pushing the boundaries of music games with Def Jam Rapstar.”

Def Jam, 4mm, and Terminal Reality showed me the game at E3 last year, and even tricked me into singing a T.I. song. You can see a list of confirmed songs after the jump. And while I have your attention, I should probably say how glad I am to have been able to upload a game screenshot named “Wu-Tang-C.R.E.A.M.-1-Gameplay-Duet.jpg.”
